Samenvatting	In 1956 Palazzo Strozzi hosted the "Mostra del Pontormo e del primo Manierismo fiorentino". It was the first important exhibition dedicated to the protagonist of a movement that had recently had a full critical re-evaluation. Almost sixty years later Palazzo Strozzi is once again hosting an exhibition dedicated to Pontormo together with the other main protagonist of that movement, Rosso Fiorentino. Both were born in 1494, at a time in history when Florence and Italy were witnessing the breakdown of the political balance that had guaranteed them prosperity and security, at the beginning of a troubled age of religious and political clashes that would lead to a definitive change in the balance between the States.
