The Anglo-Zulu War was one of the most dramatic chapters in British colonial history. It began with a simple border dispute between the Boers and the Zulus. In January 1879, after engineering a series of grievances against their Zulu neighbours, the British Army finally crossed over the Buffalo River into Zululand. It was an open act of war.
